A Dog that Smiles Deserves Ice Cream.

Hello Out There,

Anyone excited about school being out??? So many things to do. Picnics, swimming, playing sports, seeing friends and checking out the library’s summer reading program.

“Mom, let’s go. If I sign up to read I get an ice cream.”

TT your Terrific Talking Tummy checking in. Get movin! Forget about reading silly, dumb books. An ice cream pig-out is ahead.

“TT, shame on you.  You are not a  Terrific Tummy if you hate books?”

TT here. Stubb,  I am a Terrific Tummy always and forever and don’t forget it. Food makes me wiggle and giggle, not boring books. Get moving! Follow that girl with the ugly red hair.

“Listen up TT, books are our friends. They tell us about interesting places and give us wonderful ideas. Reading is a gift for life. Books can even make you laugh.

I get it. When you’re old and tired without friends you have a book to keep you company. If your falling a lot and afraid to walk anywhere you can sit in a chair by the window, read  your book about Italy, and laugh until you fall asleep.

“TT, that’s kinda the idea. It’s best to start reading when you’re a kid. Going to the library is a great place to begin finding out about the joy of reading.

Enough about books. I’m hungry for some cold, delicious, soft, yummy ice cream. I’ll take any flavor. Get moving!!

TT and I line up behind the red headed girl. She grins a me.

“Mother, I wish this dog was mine.”

“Zoe, he has a sweet face, but we already have a dog at home.”

I Stretch my lips and puff air through my nose. My delightful smile pops out.

The girl hugs me. “I can’t believe it. He’s smiling! I’m going to pretend he’s mine.”

Good thinking, Stubb. Your smile moved us closer to an ice cream gobbler.

Zoe signs up for the summer reading program.

The librarian rolls the vanilla ice cream cone in candy sprinkles and hands it to her.

TT pinches me. Hurry up! Make your move now. I’m starving!

I do my fast squish plop walk in a circle. My tummy jiggles and my tail waves. I end my exciting, amazing show close to Zoe and her cone. I let out a soft whine and continue to smile.

“Can’t my dog have some ice cream? Please!”

“Any dog that smiles and prances deserves a treat.” The librarian hands me a cone with a dip of vanilla ice cream.

TT screams and cries. That crazy old gal forgot the candy sprinkles. Stubb, bite her now.

I ignore TT. He is never satisfied when it comes to food. I sit down by my new friend. Lick, smack, my creamy delicious ice cream slides down my throat.TT is happy at last. He’s giggling.

Zoe scratches my ear. The one that sticks up.. “Bye for now. I’ll see you again when I come to the summer reading program.

Kids check out your local library.Who knows what they’re giving away. It could be books, candy, ice cream. Don’t miss out.

Happy June days ahead.
