Stubb and THE GOOD LIFE

              THE GOOD LIFE

Happy Thanksgiving Friends!

TT and I are visiting our favorite school and hiding in Mr. Barry’s classroom. Waiting for lunchtime!!!

“TT, listen up. Mr. Barry is talking about Thanksgiving.”

TT screams, Who cares about Pilgrims and Indians? Where’s the turkey dinner????

Mr. Barry walks around the classroom. “It’s time for a contest, boys against the girls. Who knows the name of the ship that landed at Plymouth Harbor on the shores of Cape Cod in Massachusetts?”

                        LANDING NOV. 11, 1620

Three boys jump up. “The answer is the Mayflower! It took the ship 68 days from England to Plymouth, Massachusetts in the year 1620”

TT here. Did the boys say chip? I love potato chips.

“No, TT! Stop it! The word is ship!”

Okay, but when is LUNCH???

“How many pilgrims died the first winter?”

Two girls stand up. “Out of 102 pilgrims, forty-five died! Most of them were women and children. They were cold and sick with diseases and many starved to death.

TT yells, I hate that DIE word! WHY DIE???

“The Pilgrims arrived in November. TT, there were no houses and very little food. They were cold, weak and sick.”

Mr. Barry gives a thumbs-up.”Good job class. Who helped the Pilgrims that first winter?”

                 THE FIRST THANKSGIVING

A boy seated in the back of the room runs up to the front. “Squanto was an Indian that spoke English. He helped the Pilgrims. Squanto taught them how to plant corn, shared his food, and showed them where and how to fish. The first Thanksgiving dinner the Indians and Pilgrims shared was probably deer meat, and pumpkins for sure.”

Sorry for the Pilgrim’s troubles. I’m here NOW. My Tank is half full and I’m ready to EAT.  I’m, alive and HUNGRY!!!!!

“Yes,TT we are here now, and should be THANKFUl.”

Thankful! WHY??

“We have a Good Life. We gobble yummy treats. Our friends like us and take care of us. Besides, every day we see our buddies and have lots of FOOD and FUN.

Mr. Barry claps his hands for attention. “Lunch time, and don’t forget about Stubb. He’s hiding behind the curtain in the  corner.”

TT hums and gurgles. I just LOVE this school!!

Friends, be Thankful for your Good Life, and all the blessings you
have NOW in 2019.

Enjoy a big piece of pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream for TT, and have a terrific day!
